Give Help

Volunteer

Do you find yourself with free time, and would like to help us? Read on...

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping the Trussell Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Corporate volunteering opportunities

On a day today basis, we can’t accommodate teams of ad hoc volunteers. We are a very small foodbank, with usually no more than six of our volunteers on site at any one time. We aren’t like the massive warehouse style foodbanks that are often shown on TV.
However, that doesn’t mean that your company can’t help us.
Would you consider organising a donations collection at your place of work? With the current economic crisis affecting much of the population, donations are markedly down and so we are using our cash reserves to top up the donation shortfall. If you can help, please email us.

Help at one of our foodbank centres

Meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients to discuss their situation and , if necessary,  get them further support through a financial support charity who attend our sessions.
The Yiewsley & West Drayton Foodbanks needs volunteers on:

  • Mondays from 13:45 to 16:15 at St Matthew’s Church
  • Tuesdays  from 09:45 to 13:15 at Bell Farm Christian Centre
  • Wednesdays from 09:45 to 12:15 at the Living Room, Crown Church, Cowley Road
  • Thursdays from 09:45 – 13:00 at Bell Farm Christian Centre
  • Fridays from 11:45 to 14:15 at St Matthew’s Church

Collect from supermarkets

We have collection points in a variety of locations in Hillingdon Borough, and at the moment, we have enough volunteers to cover this. However, if you think you would be interested in the future, please contact us.

Processing donations

Supermarket donations are collected every Tuesday morning and then processed and sorted at St Matthews Church Centre in Yiewsley from 09:00, for about 2 hours.

If you are able to help, please email us.
